SPUD.ca is a local business that delivers organic and local groceries to your home. They focus on health and sustainability, in line with the QM Green Team goals, and are giving back to schools and community groups through their fundraising initiative. Did you know you could fundraise for Queen Mary simply by doing your grocery shopping? Here's how it works:
1. Create an account at SPUD.ca
2. Go to the SPUD Fundraising page. Choose an organic produce box (ranges from $20 - $44) such as the 'Seasonal Fruit Box' or 'Best of BC' and add them to your cart. Here's that specific page:
3. At Checkout, enter the promo code FUNDRAISING in the promo code box. A list of participating groups will pop up, select Queen Mary Elementary (Point Grey) and complete your order.
4. Your order will be delivered to your home or office.
5. 25% is automatically donated to our school!
Yes, you can order more than the produce boxes to be delivered to your home (some of us really like having all our milk, veggies, eggs and basics delivered on our doorstep every Monday). But only the produce boxes listed on the Fundraising page will have the 25% donated towards Queen Mary. Popular boxes include a Seasonal Fruit box, All Greens, Best of BC or even an Office Fruit Box.
SPUD delivers on different days to the various parts of Vancouver. In the Point Grey area, the basic delivery day is Monday. Delivery is free for orders over $35. Under $35 there is a $3.50 delivery fee. You need to submit your order by 3:00 pm the day before your desired delivery.
The produce is delivered in re-usable blue boxes. If you are a regular SPUD customer, they deliver new boxes and pick up the old boxes from your doorstep the following week. Or you can arrange with SPUD directly to pick up their box if you only want to do the order once. They deal with apartments, and many different delivery scenarios, so there's probably a solution for you.
If you are already a SPUD customer, we will keep this fundraising initiative on their website, so you can enter the promo code every week. Keep in mind that the only produce boxes that get the 25% are the set ones on the Fundraising page (see the link above). This can be a tad confusing. As a regular SPUD customer I tried to use my usual 'Organic Fresh Harvest Box' towards the Fundraiser, but it came up as $0.00 in the Donation box. Once I chose an 'Organic Best of BC' produce box from the Fundraising page (which has less flexibility in your produce choices) then it showed up as 'You have donated $8.31 to Queen Mary Elementary.'
Once you've figured it out though - you can do a standing order and you're golden! If you have any questions, please direct them to Evann Siebens at [email protected] and I'll try to help you out.
