A Summer Celebration: Bollywood!

Come join us for an end-of-year afternoon of fun, Bollywood style!

Entertainment, games, dancing, eating, henna hand painting, rangoli chalk art . . .

Admission, food--everything--is FREE to Queen Mary families! (RSVP required.*)

Dress up in Bollywood costume for a chance to win prizes!

Volunteers are needed to make this event happen. Please consider signing up for a shift that suits you.

Note: No outside beverages permitted. This is a nonalcoholic event.
Variety Show
Variety Show​
​
All QM students, K-7, have been invited to share something they've been working on in this noncompetitive showcase.
Examples of performances:

A traditional performance from your culture

Skits or short plays
-
Skills (gymnastics, ball handling, etc.)

Instrumental music (solo or group)
-
Singing (solo or group)
-
Dance (solo or group)
-
Comedy routines / telling jokes

Reading a poem

Magic shows

Anything!
Informal, no-pressure “auditions” are being held at QM during lunch recesses. The purpose is just to check that the performances are appropriate for all ages. All appropriate performances are accepted. Interested students should talk to Ms. Derban or Heidi.

Activities
Bhangra Dancing
​
Following the Variety Show, let the QM Dance Club teach you some simple Bhangra moves, and have fun trying them out to music.
​
Henna Hand / Arm Painting
Artists will be ready to create a simple design on your hand or arm. Be aware that henna can last for a few weeks!
​
Rangoli Chalk Art
Colour in the white outlines you'll see on our basketball court wall. Help us create a beautiful work of art!
​
Door Prizes and Costume Prizes
Door prizes (randomly drawn) and prizes for costumes will be awarded throughout the event. You may want to consider donating an item or experience to be given away. Prizes for kids or adults are welcome!

Games
Games
We will have many games (depending on volunteer availability). Games will be free of charge. There is no limit to the number of games that a child can play. ​Children will earn tickets for playing games.

Prizes
15 games tickets can be exchanged for a prize. Prizes will be edible (avoiding items destined for the landfill). A wristband will be given to each child upon entry to the event and marked when each prize is collected. ​​
Food
Snacks and beverages will be available for free to those who register online. A wristband will be given to all attendees upon entry to track food collection. Get ready for some Bollywood-inspired treats!
​
Pizza by the slice must be pre-ordered online.
​​
This is a zero waste event! Watch for our compost and recycling bins. The goal is to produce no garbage!
