Sing. Dance. Act. Shine!

At Lights Up Afterschool, your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools' staff.

These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun afterschool activity right at the bell!

 

WINTER SHOW: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

How to train your dragon? Wonder no more! This winter, Lights Up afterschool students will dive into a world of vikings, dragons, and unexpected friendship. Inspired by the popular Dreamworks movie, with our own musical twist, embark on a heroic adventure as we learn together...

need to pick up your child until 5:15pm!

Performance on the last day of classes for friends and family!

TUESDAYS
Young Rembrandts

Girl Painter

Young Rembrandts teaches drawing, the fundamental skill of all visual arts to children aged 6 to 12. Their unique, proven method and step-by-step curriculum foster a wealth of skills such as fine motor skills, handwriting readiness and attention to detail.

 

Their method aims to develop increased patience, discipline and focus as well as a host of artistic skills such as art vocabulary and history, drawing and art skills, and expanded creativity, imagination and confidence.

Tuesdays: 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM

September 23 - December 16 (10 sessions) 

Grades: 1 to 6

Fees: $235.00 (tax included)

WEDNESDAYS
Beginner Cantonese 

Class includes:

- Picture book storytelling

- Multi-sensory learning

- Traditional rhymes

- Gamified teaching


Wednesdays: 3:15 PM – 4:45 PM
January 7 to March 11 (10 sessions)

Ages: Grade 1- 6
Class Size: Up to 15 students
Cost: $290 per student (includes tax and materials)

WIZE CODING & ROBOTICS

Coding

This hands-on course introduces students to the exciting world of mobile app development using MIT App Inventor, a beginner-friendly, drag-and-drop platform created by MIT. Students will explore the fundamentals of user interface design, logical thinking, event-driven programming, and problem-solving as they build fully functional Android mobile apps.

 

Thursdays: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
January 15 - Mar 5 (8 sessions) 

Ages: Grade 3 – 7

Fees: $300 + tax and $25 annual registration fee

FRIDAYS
Brainiacs: Board Games & Chess

Come explore the power of strategic thinking through fun, engaging, hands-on and strategy-based board-games such as Chess, Mastermind, Blokus, Chinese Checkers, Match Madness, Codenames and many more.

 

The program will focus on teaching kids new board-games, strategic foundations, skill development and game strategy improvement. When playing chess, the focus will be on learning piece functions, openings, endgame tactics, variations and puzzles (depending on the skill level). 


Fridays: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
October 3 to December 12 (except October 24 and 31)
Grades: K to 7
Fees: $300 per student (+GST)
